HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-003RESOLUTION OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE REGARDING COUNTY-OWNED CEMETERY GRAVE MARKER DONATIONS WHEREAS, the California Government Code Section 25355 allows the Board of Supervisors to delegate to any County officer or employee the power to "acceptor reject any gift, bequest, or devise made to or in favor of the County;" and WHEREAS, the California Government Code Section 25355 requires, upon delegation of such authority, that the officer or employee file a quarterly report with the Board of Supervisors that describes the source and value of each gift valued in excess of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00); and WHEREAS, the California Health & Safety Code Section 8133 allows the Board of Supervisors to make and enforce general rules and regulations regarding cemeteries under its jurisdiction and control, and to appoint officers to enforce obedience to the rules and regulations; and WHEREAS, the County provides grave markers on plots of interred remains in its public cemeteries, and from time to time, members of the public provide replacement grave markers and request the County to place the markers on specific plots. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, that the Director, General Services is authorized to accept a replacement grave marker as a gift to the County of Butte, according to the rules and regulations set forth in the Policy for County Cemetery Grave Markers; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director, General Services shall file a quarterly report with the Board of Supervisors that describes the source and value of each grave marker gift valued in excess of ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
