HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-005OF Thomas Dryden Whereas, this Board expresses its appreciation to Thomas Dryden for his 13 years of dedicated service to Butte County Whereas, Thomas Dryden began his employment with the Butte County Sheriff's Office in April 1998, as a Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Dryden was a stellar patrol deputy, assigned for a time to the Berry Creek community as a designated area deputy and serving the department as a field training officer. Deputy Dryden was selected as the Butte County Sheriff's Office Deputy of the Year in 2001. In 2002, Deputy Dryden was selected to the Sheriff's investigations unit and assigned as a Detective in charge of sexual assault, child abuse, and elder abuse crimes. These victim crimes are some of the most mentally taxing crimes our staff investigates and Detective Dryden spent eight years in the assignment. Detective Dryden was insb-umental in the successful investigation and prosecution of numerous perpetrators of violent child abuse, elder abuse, and sexual assault crimes. Detective Dryden also supervised the Crime Scene Investigation Team, responsible for the collection of evidence at all the homicide scenes and became an expert in computer forensics and successfully investigated numerous child pornography cases. Due to Detective Dryden's outstanding work with victims of violent crime, he received the Victim Witness Advocate award in 2008. Due to his internninable efforts, Detective Dryden made a positive impact on the safety of the citizens and children of Butte County. Whereas, after serving the citizens of Butte County for 13 years, Thomas Dryden retired on December 30, 2011. Tom has returned to assist the Investigations Unit as an extra help employee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors on its own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte: That said Board expresses their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by Detective Thomas Dryden during his career with the Butte County Sheriff s Office.
