RESOLUTION REQUESTING BOARD OF SUPERVISORS SUPPORT FOR BUTTE COUNTY FIRE SAFE COUNCIL'S
APPLICATIONS FOR SIERRA NEVADA CONSERVANCY GRANT FUNDING
WHEREAS, Butte County has been plagued by wildfires that have destroyed watersheds, homes and lives; and
the Feather River watershed and the Little Butte Creek' s watershed is at great risk to wildfire; and
WHEREAS, the Sierra Nevada Conservancy has grant funding through the Proposition 84 Healthy Forest Program
that targets the protection of the watersheds of the Sierras; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Safe Council has been active in obtaining grant funds for wildfire prevention
work in Butte County; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors supports the application by the
Butte County Fire Safe Council to the Sierra Nevada Conservancy grant funding for the construction of the Forbestown
Shaded Fuel Break- Phases 3 & S for the protection of the Feather River watershed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors supports the application by the Butte County Fire Safe
Council to the Sierra Nevada Conservancy grant funding for the Little Butte Creek Forest Health Project to enhance the
forest ecosystem and increase watershed protection by thinning densely overstocked trees and brush; and
BE lT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors supports the application by the Butte County Fire Safe
Council to the Sierra Nevada Conservancy grant funding for the Forest Health Chipper Program far the protection of
watersheds and homes by creating landscape level fire adapted forests throughout Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 10t" day of January, 2012 by the following
vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair Lambert
