A RESOLUTION THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
HONORING THE
CALIFORNIA BUILDING OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION
ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 50~" ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, in 1962 a dedicated group of local California building officials shared a need for prvfessional development,
innovation and commonalities by coming together to formally establish California Building Officials (GALBO); and
WHEREAS, as the most populous chapter of the International Cade Council with a jurisdiction of the state of California,
CALBO has actively participated in the legislative process at the state and federal levels in an effort to encourage the development and
passage of responsible legislation, education and building code development which promotes public health and safety in building
construction. CALBO commemorates the necessity of these actions annually at the State Capital through its member driven
Leadership and Advocacy Day.
WHEREAS, in addition to legislative advocacy and in conjunction with California state agencies, CALBO is an active
participant within the regulatory process, ensuring the highest level of public safety is reached through the adoption of practicai and
enforceable codes, regulations, and standards. CALBO was a principal participant in the California Code Wars regulatory decision,
which led to the eventual adoption of the International Codes in California.
WHEREAS, protections of life, health and property is a solemn responsibility of the highest order to all code officials, and in
particular, CALBO members. CALBO, in recognizing the public's trust, bestowed upon individuals engaged in the administration and
enforcement of building regulatory codes, CALBO reiterates this commitment to a standard of professional behavior that exemplifies the
highest ideals and principles of ethical conduct and work by an established code of ethics.
WHEREAS, CALBO has become the renown leader in education and training on California specific codes and standards
through the organization's arm entitled the "CALBO Training Institute," seeking to fulfill state mandated continuing education
requirements on new codes and standards.
WHEREAS, through its actions and activities with other like-minded organizations, CALBO is a vigilant advocate far Galifornia
Ivcal government and the need to safeguard localized control.
WHEREAS, over the years Butte Gounty staff has actively participated in the CAl_BO's activities and has gained invaluable
assistance and professional development thereby strengthening our county's building projects and programs; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT BE RE50LVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors takes great pleasure in honoring
California Building Officials on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary and wishes it many more years as a leading organization in the
advancement of high quality, comprehensive and progressive building codes and standards on behalf of local California governments.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors on this 24th day of January, 2012, by the following vote:
