EMPLOYMENT & ELIGIBILITY STAFF WEEK
IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Employment & Eligibility Professionals are required to perform a multitude of tasks on a daily basis
that require excellent skills in business, casework, communication, and the use of compassion in dealing with those
citizens who rely on temporary public assistance, which is nearly one in four Butte County residents; and
WHEREAS, Eligibility Professionals assist individuals, children, and families who are in need of temporary
andlor emergency food, shelter, housing, and medical care to achieve and maintain self sufficiency, and do so with a
superior level of service to the citizens of Butte County, preserving the dignity of children, families, and adults; and
WHEREAS, Employment Professionals enhance the economic well-being of individuals, families, and the
community through the One-Stop Centers by providing an array of services to assist job seekers and employers with their
employment needs. One-Stop staff served over $0,000 job seekers in 2011; this number represents a 14% increase over
the prior year. Employment Staff continually maintain superior professional results and deliver outstanding services; and
WHEREAS, Employment & Eligibility Professionals have effectively implemented new California legislation
that lowered the amount of aid received by Ca1WORKs families cmd reduced the time that adults are eligible to receive
cash aid and welfare-to-work services. During this transition employees have shown a tremendous determination and
resolve in providing excellent customer service -they have supported their clients by providing timely case management,
information, resource referrals, budget counseling, and empathy; and
WHEREAS, Employment & Eligibility Professionals are assisted, supported, and trained in the performance of
their duties by a variety ofhighly-skilled administrative support and supervisory staff; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of Butte County recognize the important services which Employment
& Eligibility Professionals provide to citizens throughout our county, state and nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that the County honors
its Employment & Eligibility Professionals, Supervisors and Administrative Support staff by proclaiming January 23
through January 27, 2012 as Employment & Eligibility Staff Recognition Week in Butte County.

AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair Lambert
