RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA STATE LAND5 COMMISSION FOR THE CONTINUED
USE AND MAINTENANCE AND SEISMIC RETROFITTING OF ORD FERRY BRIDGE ACROSS
THE SACRAMENTO RIVER, THE INSTALLATION OF THREE DEBRIS DEFLECTORS AND A
TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION AREA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ORD FERRY ROAD
BRIDGE SEISMIC RETROFIT PROJECT AT THE SACRAMENTO RIVER, STATE BRIDGE NO.
12C-4120, FEDERAL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT STPLZ-5912(019)
WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors have entered into a project agreement with
Caltrans and the Federal Highway Administration to participate in the Highway Bridge Program (HBP) for the
seismic retrofit of the Ord Ferry Road Bridge at the Sacramento River; and
WHEREAS, Butte County has maintained the Ord Ferry Bridge across the Sacramento River since it
was constructed in 1971; and
WHEREAS, For a term of 49 years beginning April 23, 1971 and ending April 22, 2020 Butte and
Glenn County entered into an agreement February 1, 1972 with the California State Lands Commission
permitting the construction, operation and maintenance of a fixed concrete bridge and appurtenances upon
certain submerged lands situate in the Counties of Butte and Glenn; and
WHEREAS, the project requires that the Counties of Butte and Glenn enter in a new General Lease for
the continued use and maintenance and seismic retrofitting of the Ord Ferry Bridge across the Sacramento
River, the installation of three debris deflectors, and a temporary construction area;
NOW THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
of California, in order to complete the delivezy of the Ord Ferry Road Bridge Seismic Project, authorizes the
Director of Public Works to execute an agreement with the California State Lands Commission for the
continued use and maintenance and seismic retrofitting of the Ord Ferry Bridge across the Sacramento River,
the installation of three debris deflectors, and a temporary construction area for the construction of Ord Ferry
Road Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project, State Bridge No. 12C-0120, Highway Bridge Project STPLZ-5912(019).
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, this
14~' day of February, 2012, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair Lambert
NOES: None
