RESOLUTION TO DESIGNATE BUTTE COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
AS THE LOCAL PUBLIC ENTITY REGARDING PIERCE'S DISEASE
WHEREAS, Pierce's Disease, its vectors and other designated pests and diseases are
detrimental to agriculture production, homeowners, businesses and the native plant habitat in
Butte County.
WHEREAS, the Butte County Department of Agriculture has spent more than a decade
monitoring, treating and preventing Pierre's Disease, its vectors and other designated pests and
diseases from becoming established in Butte County.
WHEREAS, the Butte County Department of Agriculture is the only local entity with the
authority, skills, funding and support to protect Butte County from Pierre's Disease, its vectors
and other designated pests and diseases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, designate the Butte County Department of Agriculture as the local
public entity for local assistance regarding Pierre's Disease, its vectors and other designated
pests and diseases pursuant to the California Food and Agricultural Cade Section 6046(f). This
designation is a requirement for the competition of the Glassy-Winged Sharp Shooter Contract
Work Plan.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 24t'~ day of April, 2012, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair Lambert
NOES: None
ASSENT: Supervisor Connelly
NOT VOTING: None
