WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz, Cadas#ral Drafting Technician, Senior, announced her
retirement as of June 15, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz began her career with the County of Butte on March 10, 1986
with the Recorder's Office as a Typist Clerk I; and transferred to the Assessor's Qffice on
February 23, 1987 as a typist Clerk II, advancing within the department, holding the positions of
Typist Clerk III, Assessment Clerk III, Cadastral Drafting technician, and Cadastral Drafting
Technician, Senior; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz is responsible for many innovations in the Assessor's Office,
which include streamlining mobile home processing, converting pen and ink maps to a digital
format, and implementing and continuing to update drafting software; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz has consistently provided excellent"customer service and
served as a well-known and respected department ambassador; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz has served under three Butte County Assessors, Ted
Cleveland, Ken Reimers, and Fred Holland; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz has assisted with training at the Butte College Police Academy
and is a great dog lover and trainer; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Balaz diligently served the residents of the County of Butte for
twenty-six years and three months with extraordinary dedication;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf, and on behalf of
the residents of the County of Butte, wishes to express to Dorothy Balaz sincere appreciation
for her many years of unselfish dedication and outstanding service rendered to the residents of
the County of Butte, and further wishes her well on her retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 22°~ of May, 2012 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair Lambert
