SEPTEMBER 11, 2012 AS "PROTECT YOUR GROUNDWATER DAY"
WHEREAS, the protection of groundwater for beneficial uses within the County is of major concern to
the residents of the County for the protection of their health, welfare, and safety; and
WHEREAS, the National Ground Water Association NGWA) is a nonprofit organization composed of
U.S. and international groundwater professionals 'dedicated to advancing groundwater knowledge'; and
WHEREAS, NGWA annually recognizes Protect Your Groundwater Day to spotlight how individuals can
protect and reduce health risks to one of our most important natural resources -groundwater; and -
WHEREAS, NGWA urges individuals to "ACT", or acknowledge, consider, and take actions to prevent
groundwater contamination and conserve groundwater resources; and
WHEREAS, Butte County relies on groundwater for urban and agricultural supplies and a healthy
environment; and
WHEREAS, Butte County is strongly committed to ensure the continued sustainability of groundwater
quantity and quality within the County:
NOW, TH£REt=ORE, BE 1T RESOLVED AND PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte does hereby proclaim the eleventh of September, 2012 as "Protect Your Groundwater Day" and urges
all residential, industrial, agricultural, and commercial users of groundwater to take actions toward protecting
and conserving our groundwater resources.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of Butte, State of California, this 11t'' day of
September, 2012 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Yamaguchi and Chair Lambert
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
