HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-117RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK IN BUTTE COUNTY October 22 through October 28, 201.2 WHEREAS, the citizens of Butte County are committed to promoting the prevention of suicide and the mental health and well-being of all citizens; and WHEREAS, suicide is a community health problem that is preventable; and WHEREAS, Care Enough To Act, the Suicide Prevention Task Force, was created to provide hope and care for people affected by suicide and to reduce suicide attempts and deaths in the Butte County region.; and WHEREAS, Care Enough To Act believes that friends and family are the key to helping prevent suicide; and WHEREAS, Suicide touches all people, Care Enough To Act has partnered with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to promote the 3`d Annual Out of The Darkness Walk an October 27, 2012; and WHEREAS, Care Enough To Act has collaborated with a variety of organizations to have suicide prevention awareness and education events in Butte County during the week of October 22 - 27, 2012. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby Froclaim the week of October 22, 2012 as Suicide Prevention Week in Butte County. As members of the Board of Supervisors, we also call upon our community to commit to increasing their knowledge of suicide prevention, knowing the signs and symptoms of suicide risk, and taking the steps to "care enough to act" when identifying someone at risk for suicide. ~.~~ - Steve Lambert air Butte County Board of Supervisors
