BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES
WHEREA5, Richard Brazil, a supervisor in the Department of Employment and Social Services (DESS), has
announced his retirement as of November 2, 2012; and
WHEREA5, Richard began his career with the County of Butte in January of 1975 as an Eligibility Worker 1 and
moved up to Social Worker (SW) for Adult Services and Child Welfare Services. Ne has served as a Supervisor in Children
Welfare Services since 1988; and
WHEREAS, Richard provided excellent service to Children's Services working closely with the Juvenile Court, as
the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children Liaison, as the Indian Child Welfare Act Liaison, as the Child
Support Liaison, working actively to create and maintain policy and procedure and maintaining information relevant to
Children's Services; and
WHEREAS, Richard's commitment to DE55 and Children's was enhanced by his ability to work competently with
several different programs and departments and his willingness to share his vast knowledge of Child Welfare; and
WHEREA5, Richard has devoted his career to improving the fives of children and families in our community
through his tireless focus on meeting their needs through his work; and
WHEREAS, Richard has taken great pride in his job as a public servant conducting himself with the highest level
of integrity and responsibility; and
WHEREA5, Richard has worked diligently for the past nearly 38 years in the best interest of Butte County and its
citizens, earning the respect and confidence of his employees, and many county, state and community partners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BIR IT RESOLVED that the Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Butte
County, extends its appreciation for your many years of dedicated service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this December 11, 2012.
