The additional compensation paid a Constable shall be based upon merit and length of service as set forth in Sections 6.7 and 6.8 of the Personnel Rules. 12. SECTION N0. ~ Beginning the effective date of this ordinance, the classification, number and salary range of positions authorized for each department or unit are set forth in the following sections. No department head shall appoint more employees to a class of position than is provided for, except that (1) a new employee may be appointed to a position not more than ten (10) working days before the employee he is replacing is separated; and (2) that the positions of Clerk II, Typist Clerk II, Stenographer Clerk II, and Account Clerk II, may be filled with the lower classifications in each series. For the purpose of setting pay periods throughout the year beginning January 1, 1972 each bi-weekly pay period will commence on Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and will end at 12:00 midnight .on the second Friday following. Each l~r day bi-weekly period will encompass 10 assigned compensated days including holidays for regular employees. Regular employees performing less than full time services during any bi-weekly period shall be compensated on a prorata basis, the ratio being the percentage of-time worked to the aforesaid bi-weekly period. Extra help employees shall be paid on an hourly basis for hours actually worked.
