Class Code Med Code Under supervision to perform the less complex professional planning duties involving data collection and analysis, public contact, report preparation and related duties as required. Example of Duties Conducts studies, compiles information and prepares written reports or partial reports on land use, population trends and patterns, roads, subdivisions and a variety of other data essential to planning; contributes to the formulation of general plans? general plan elements, specific plans and related projects; prepares location, land use, zoning and special study maps, sketches, g.e~eral illustrative material and designs for street layout and land developments; in person and by phone answers a variety of questions and provides information to the public regarding ordinance requirements as to general plan, zoning, minor developments, lot sizes, etc.; advises public as to procedural requirements for securing consideration of application requests; assists public in the completion of and reviews applications for permits and variances; issues land use and variance permitt as appropriate; maintains required records and documentation of actions taken; prepares correspondence on routine planning matters; attend meeting and present reports. Emplo:~nent Standards Education and Experience: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in city or regional planning, architecture, landscape architectures engineering, public administration, sociology, geography, economics or a closely related field. License Required: Valid California Motor Vehicle Qperator's License. Knowledge and Ability: General knowlec~ e of the current trends in federal, state and local planning; general knowledge of the nature of the planning function in local government; historic and general knowledge of current trends in County planning] including knowledge of economic aspects; knowledge of state laws relating to County planning; ability to prepare and interpret a wide variety of maps, detailed drawings, socio--economic and land use data, and legal descriptions; the ability to work well with others; ability to prepare and present effective written reports and verbal representations; ability to deal effectively with the public. Example of Duties Assist in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive county general plan; perform research; compile and analyze data and prepare reports and recommendations on planning studies and surveys; make field investigations concerning planning and zoning problems; collect data concerning needs of county for public improvements and zoning of land and confer with property owners, public officials, developers, architects and others concerned in these needs; propose and participate in the development of special planning studies; carry out directives of planning and zoning ordinances; consult with citizens and officials on planning problems and programs; maintain liaison with other public agencies in the field of planning.
