TO EXTEND AN TTERTM ORDINANCE ZONING A PORTION OF THE
COUNTY OF BUTTE AN "A-3" (AGRICULTURAL) DISTRICT,
PURSUANT TO ORDINANCE NO. 475 , A5 AMENDED.
1 The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State o:
2 California.,. under and pursuant to Ordinance Na. 475.-, as amended,
3 .and declaring an emergency, DDES ORDAIN as fallows:
4 SECTION 1, The hereinafter described area situate in the
5 County of Butte, State of California, shah. be and it is hereby
6 zoned as an "A-3" (Agricultural) District, for a period of six {6)
7 months, and such area sha11 be sub.~ect to the restrictions and re-
8 stricted uses and regulations hereinafter specified and provided.
9 Said area so zoned being located in the unincorporated area of
IO Butte County, California, more particularly described as follows:
I1 All of Sections 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33 and 34,
I2 T21N R3E, MDB&M.
13 SECTION 2. REGULATIONS FOR AN "A-3" DISTRICT: The
I4 following regulations shall apply in an "A-3" District:
15 2.~. USES P ERMiTTED:
16 a. Single-family dwellings.
17 b. General farming, horticulture, commercial ~.ivestock
I8 poultry production, warehousing and storage.
I9 c. Accessory buildings and uses pertinent to the
20 permitted uses, including agricultural processing
21 plants.
22 d. Housing facilities (including mobile homes) to
23 accommodate only agricultural employees and their
24 families employed by the owner or operator of the
~ premises; and provided further that such housing
26 facility shall be considered accessory to the main

2.5 SIDE YARD REQUIRED: Minimum side yard shall not be
less than five {5) feet. ~ ~~
SECTION 3. All uses of land not specifically authorized
and permitted under Section 2 are prohibited within the district.
SECTION 4. The penalties for the violation of the zoning
hereby imposed within the district shall be as provided in Section
15 of Ordinance No. 4~5, In compliance with the provisions of the
Zoning Enabling Ordinance, this ordinance shall from and after
its effective date become a supplement to and part of the Zoning
Enabling Ordinance.
SECTION 5. This urgency ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen
(15} days after its passage shall be published once with the names
of all members voting for and against the same in the Chico
enterprise , a newspaper in general circulation
in the County of Butte, State of California. The facts constitu-,
ting the urgency on which this ordinance is based are:
].. The '.'A-2" Zoning permits uses which may be incompat
able with the development bf the subject area in a
manner inconsistent with the location of Butte

Community College in said area.
A zoning study is being conducted to consider possibl
rezoning of all, or parts of, the subject area to
zoning districts compatible with bhe development of
a community college site.

! IN EACH CASE:
building and shall conform to the provision per-
taining to required yard and open space for dwelling
Mobile homes to house one family when such mobile
home is the only housing facility located on the
premises, provided the fallowing conditions are con-
formed to:
i. The floor area within the mobile home shall not
be less than five hundred (500} square feet.
2. The parcel of land conforms to Section 2.3 {mini
mum lot area of 5 acres), or is a smaller parcel
of land lawfully created prior to the enactment
of this Ordinance, subject to written approval
by the Director of Planning.
THE FOLLOWING USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE PERMIT
a. Golf courses and country clubs.
b. Public or quasi-public uses including churches, fire
houses, hospitals and clinics, parks and playgrounds
schools, public utility buildings and professional
buildings.
2.3 MINIMUM LOT AREA REQUIRED. Minimum lot area shall
not be less than five (5) acres.
2.4 FRONT YARD REQUIRED: Minimum front yard shall be
fifty (50) feet from the centerline of the road, except where the
road is classified by the County as a Federal Aid Secondary Road
and the minimum building setback requirement shall be fifty-five
(55} feet from the centerline of said road.

3. This urgency ordinance is necessary to preserve the
public health, safety, and welfare in the subject
area until said rezoning studies are completed and
acted upon.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, on the 2sth day of
November , 1.97 , by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Ladd, Madigan, McKitlap and Chairman Gilman.
