HomeMy WebLinkAbout13-038RESOL UTION DECLARING MARCH 2013 AS SOCIAL WORKMONTH WHEREAS, the primary mission of Social Work is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic needs of all people, especially the mast vulnerable; and WHEREAS, Social Workers provide the front line of defense in the system of services aimed at protecting children from neglect and abuse, in protecting the frail elderly and other dependent adults from neglect, abuse, and exploitation; and WHEREAS, Social Workers assist individuals and families in every stage of life, from all communities; and WHEREAS, Social Workers help people function better in their environments, improve their relationships with others, and solve personal and family problems through a wide range of psychosocial services; and WHEREAS, Social Workers connect individuals, families and communities to available resources; and WHEREAS, Social Workers advocate for others to make sure everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections, and opportunities; and WHEREAS, Social Workers celebrate the courage, strength;, and determination of th:e human spirit, and work to empower others to hope, dream and believe in their own potential; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, hereby declare the month of March 2013 as Social Work Month in Butte County to honor all Social Workers for their commitment to the profession of Social Work; their dedication to the highest moral and ethical standards; their practice of social work with the competency of their profession; and their regard, as their primary obligation, for the welfare of the individuals and families served.
