As Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day
Whereas, American Armed Forces from the Vietnam War who were Prisoners of War have faced extraordinary
hardships and overcame them through extraordinary sacrifices, demonstrating their bravery, sufFering, and profound
devotion to duty. Their undying spirit and commitment to the defense of this great nation is a beacon to all freedom
loving Americans; and
Whereas, April 4, 2013 marks the 44t" year of the return of the last group of POW's and this July 19t" marks the
40"` year that we celebrate Na#ional POW/MIA day as a symbol of the strength and patriotism of these POW/MIAs and
their families. That the United States Congress has proclaimed March 30`" as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans bays;
and
Whereas, the Butte County Board of Supervisors recognizes Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 582 of Butte
County for its ongoing services and programs for all Veterans and their families as well as their dedication to honoring
the remembrance of POW/M1As and their families; and
Whereas, let it be known to all that on the 26t" of March 2413 that the Butte County Board of Supervisors takes
special note in honoring the 44t" Anniversary of the returning Vietnam Veteran POW's to the United States of America
and to the families of these POW/MIAs.
