HomeMy WebLinkAbout13-065. ~~ 1 C~IUNTY 4F BUTTE, 5`fATE`~F CALiFORNlA T = ,, itesolutian No. 13-065 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF 5UPERVISORS TO PROCLAIM MAY 2013 AS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH WHEREAS, mental health is essential to everyone's overall health and well-being; and WHEREAS, all Americans experience times of difficulty and stress in their lives; and WHEREAS, promatian and prevention are effective ways to reduce the burden of mental health conditions; and WHEREA5, there is a strong body of research that support user-friendly tools that all Americans can access to better handle challenges, and protect their health and well-being; and WHEREAS, with effective treatment, those individuals with mental health conditions can recover and lead full, productive lives; and WHEREA5, each business, school, government agency, faith-based organization, health care provider, and citizen has a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim May 2013 as Mental Health Awareness Month in Butte County. As members of the Board of Supervisors, we also call upon our community to commit to increasing awareness and understanding of mental health, the steps our citizens can take to protect their mental health, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people with mental health conditions.
