HomeMy WebLinkAbout13-096WHEREAS, Children are our most precious resource and become healthy, productive, and well-adjusted adults through the support and nurturing of their parents; and WHEREAS, The Mission of the Butte County Department of Child Support Services is "CSS and Parents working together for Children"; and WHEREAS, Butte County's child support program provides an important opportunity far parents to be a positive force in the lives of their children, increases family self-sufficiency, reduces child poverty, and has a positive effect on children's educational achievement; and WHEREAS, There are over I 1,755 cases in Butte County alone in which the services of the Butte County Department of Child Support Services are required, orders have been established in 11,007 cases, paternity has been established for 9,847 children and parents have paid over $12,555,239 dollars toward the support of their children during the current federal fiscal year; and WHEREAS, Butte County is strongly committed to seeking ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its child support program; and WHEREAS, During the month of August 2013, parents who have fallen behind in making their child support payments are encouraged to come into the child support office to make a payment, seek modification of their child support order, get their licenses released, obtain a repayment plan, and find out whether they qualify for a compromise on an overdue balance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte does hereby recognize the month of August 2013 as "Child Support Awareness Month" and commends parents who regularly pay their child support and the Department of Child Support Services for their steadfast commitment to improving the quality of life for Butte County's children.
