HomeMy WebLinkAbout13-107Resolution No. 13-107 RE50LUTION RECOGNISING TWENTY YEARS OF SHERIFF'S STAR5 WHEREAS, in 1993, the Butte County Sheriff s Office created the Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees (STARS) program and graduated 16 volunteers from the first academy; and WHEREAS, today the STARS program boasts an ac#ive membership of 81 STARS who assist the community with Neighborhood Watch, traffic control, the collection of evidence, emergency response, crime prevention activities and other miscellaneous duties too numerous to name; and WHEREAS, since 2000, there have been over 450 volunteers who have worked 689,441 volunteer hours and those STARS have patrolled 1,579,551 miles of roadways in Butte County proactively showing a public safety presence. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes the anniversary of 20 years of the Sheriff's STARS program and the 450 STARS volunteers who've made the program a success.
