DURING THE SWEDES FIRE BY
THE NORTH VALLEY ANIMAL DISASTER GROUP
WHEREAS, The North Valley Animal Disaster Group was activated on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2:07 a.m. to
assist with animal evacuations for the Swedes fire in Oraville, CA, and the Group released the last animal from a shelter
at 4:5D p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2013; and
WHEREAS, North Valley Animal Disaster Group's Evacuation Team performed mare than 40 requests for
services, including evacuation of horses, llamas, goats, chickens, rabbits, cats, and dogs; and
WHEREAS, North Valley Animal Disaster Group's dedicated volunteers staffed the large and small animal
shelters caring for 17 horses, 19 goats, 10 chickens, 25 dogs, 28 cats, 17 rabbits and 1 rooster; and
WHEREAS, The North Valley Animal Disaster Group volunteers, who are registered disaster service workers,
logged over 1,115 hours.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize and thank
the volunteers of the North Valley Animal Disaster Group and their tireless efforts that contributed to the welfare of
Butte County animals, citizens, and first responders.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 10th day of September, 2013 by the following
vote
AYES: Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Lambert, Teeter and Chair Connelly
