The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, under and pursuant to Ordinance No. 475, as amended,
and declaring an emergency DOES ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION ~.. The hereinafter described area situate in
'the County of Butte, State of California, shall be and it is
hereby 2aned as an "A-R" (Agricultural-Residential) District and
such area shall be subject to the restrictions and restricted
uses and regulations hereinafter specified and provided. Said
area so zoned being located in the unincorporated area of Butte
County more particularly described as follows:
Being a portion of Section 2, T 17N R2E, MDB&M, and
a portion of "Gridley Colony No, 9", per map an record
in map book 9 on page 5$ in the office of the Butte
County Recorder, particularly described as,
All of Lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of said
"Gridley Colony No. 9" and
All of Lot 1 of said "Gridley Colony No. 9" excepting
therefrom that portion of said Lot 1 lying north and
east of the following described line: Commencing at
the northwest corner of said Lot 1; thence north 89°
50' east,a distance of 210 ft., along the south right-
of-way line of Gridley-Colusa Highway to the point
of beginning; thence south 05° 16' east, a distance
of 397.5 ft.; thence north 89° 21' east, a distance
of 123 ft; thence south 35 ft, to the south line of
the Biggs-West Gridley Water District right-of-way;
~:'s~ence east along the south line of said Biggs-West
~,~idley right-af-way 800 ft, more or less to the
centerline of Lot 1 of said "Gridley Colony No. 9",

5ECTION 2. REGULATIONS FOR AN "A-R" DISTRICT:
,The following regulations shall apply in an "A-R" Distri t:

2.l USES PERMITTED;
a. Single-family dwellings, not including tents or
trailers.
b. Accessory buildings pertinent to the permitted uses.
c. Agricultural uses.
d. Livestock, sulaject to requirements as follocas:
1. Minimum lot area to be devoted to residential
use shall be not less than eight thousand one
hundred twenty-five (8,125) square feet.
2. Exclusive of the area devoted to the residential
use, the following lat ar parcel area shall be
required far each animal raised or_ kept on the
premises:
a. For each horse or head of cattle over one (1}
year of age--eight thousand one hundred
twenty-five (8,125} square feet.
b. For each head of swine over ten (10) ~~reeks
of age--eight thousand one hundred twenty-
- five (8,125) square feet.
c. For each head of sheep or goats--two thousand
(2,oao) square feet.
' 2.2 THE FOLLOWTNG USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE PERMIT
EACH CASE:
a. Duplex dwellings and multiple--family dwellings.
b. Golf courses, country clubs - if permitted, would
permit accessory uses such as driving range, pro

1 shop, cocktail bar, restaurant.
2 c. Public and quasi-public uses including churches,
3 firehouses, hospitals, parks and playgrounds, schools
4 and public utility buildings.
6 d. Commercial poultry farming and livestock farming.
6 e. Veterinary clinics, outpatient.
7 f. Nurseries and plant gardens.
$ 2.3 LOT AREA REQUIRED: Minimum required area of a lot
9 per dwelling unit shall be not less than eight thousand one hundred
10 twenty five (8,125) square feet.
~~ 2.4 LOT WIDTH REQUIRED: Minimum lot width shall nat be
12 less than sixty-five (65} feet.
13 2.5 FRONT YARD REQUIRED: Minimum front yard shall, be
14 fifty {50) feet from the centerline of the road, except where the
15 road is classified by the County as a Federal Aid Secondary Raad,
1B the minim~xm building setback requirement shall be fifty-five {55}
17 feet fram the centerline of the road.
18 2.6 SIDE YARD REQUIREMENTS: Minimum side yard shall not
19 be less than five {5) feet.
20 SECTION 3. Tn compliance with the provisions of said
21 Zoning Enabling Ordinance, the same is hereby amended by adding
22 this Ordinance in full.
23 SECTION 4. The penalties for the violation of the zoning
24 hereby imposed within the District shall be as provided in the
26
Zoning Enabling Ordinance. Tn compliance with the provisions of

the Zoning Enabling Ordinance, this Ordinance shah. fram and after

its effective date become a supplement to and part of the Zoning
Enabling Ordinance.
SECTION 5. For the immediate preservation of the public
(peace, health and safety of the area hereinabove described, and
the residents and inhabitants thereof, it is necessary that this
ordinance take effect immediately. A declaration of the facts
constituting the necessity therefore is as follows:
The adoption of such Interim Zoning Plan is necessary in
the public interest, to maintain the status quo in such district
pending the determination of the application for such permanent
detail zoning.
SECTION 6. This emergency ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen
(15} days after its passage sha11 be published once with the names
of all members of the Board of Supervisors voting for and against
;the same in the Gridley Herald , a newspaper in general
'circulation in the County of Butte, State of California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, on the l2th day of
December 1972 , by the following vote
