APPRECIATION OF THE BENEFITS MILESTONE TECHNOLOGIES, INC. BRINGS TO
THE LOCAL ECONOMY
WHEREAS, Milestone Technologies, Inc. (Milestone) is a Fremont-based company that is
a leading provider of solutions to the strategic IT needs of large global corporations, including
companies Tike eBay, Facebook and Google; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Executive Officer of Milestone, Prem Chand, has roots in Butte
County, having been raised in Biggs and with family farming interests in Biggs and near
Hamilton City where they have grown everything from pumpkins - to watermelons - to walnuts;
and
WHEREAS, Prem Chand was named the "Entrepreneur of the Year" at the 2012 North
State Innovation Awards for his commitment to supporting economic growth and technology
development in Northern California; and
WHEREAS, Milestone currently employs more than 1,000 employees, many based at
clients' international locations; and
WHEREAS, in July 2012, Milestone opened a small office in Chico with about a dozen
employees and was so pleased with the results that it decided to expand its services in
Northern California; and
WHEREAS, in 2013 Milestone announced it was opening a contact center in Chico and
would be hiring 230 new employees; and
WHEREAS, the company chose Chico in order to attract employees with loyalty and is
providing good-paying jobs paying $15-19 per hour plus benefits; and
WHEREAS, the anticipated local economic impact of the first phase of Milestone's Chico
operations expansion include:
Direct Employment: 340
Secondary Employment: 114
Direct Labor Income: $15,415,000 annually (salaries/benefits)
Secondary Labor Income: $3,876,000 annually
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
recognizes Milestone Technology for its contribution to improving the local economy and herby
extends it appreciation to Prem Chand and Milestone for choosing Chico for its expansion.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 5th day of November,
2013 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Lambert, Teeter and Chair Connelly
