EMPLOYMENT AND ELIGIBILITY STAFF WEEK
JANUARY 13 —JANUARY 17, 2014
IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Employment and Eligibility Professionals are required to perform a multitude of tasks on a daily
basis that require excellent skills in casework, communication and a thorough knowledge of local community resources;
and
WHEREAS, Employment Professionals enhance the economic well -being of individuals, families, and the
community by providing an array of services to assist CaIWORKs recipients in removing barriers to self sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, Eligibility Professionals assisted more than 30,000 households by awarding or maintaining
benefits that provided temporary and /or emergency food, shelter, housing, and medical care; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, Employment Professionals supported over 950 individuals by assisting them toward their
employment goals and economic self - sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, Eligibility Professionals have successfully implemented the establishment of the Customer Service
Center and implementation of a Task Based approach to service, resulting in enhanced customer service for County
residents; and
WHEREAS, Eligibility Professionals have effectively implemented parts of the new federal law, the Affordable
Care Act (ACA), including evaluating eligibility for the expanded MediCal program for those who may not have
previously qualified and offering enrollment options for the entire spectrum of coverage available under the ACA; and
WHEREAS, Employment Professionals have begun the implementation of legislated changes to the CalWORKS
program requirements, educating clients on Welfare to Work requirements and introducing new ways to assess and assist
clients in achieving self - sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned is possible because Employment and Eligibility Professionals are assisted,
supported, and trained in the performance of their duties by a variety of highly - skilled managerial and supervisory staff;
and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of Butte County honor Employment and Eligibility Professionals who
serve our county residents with competence and compassion,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that the County honors
its Employment and Eligibility Professionals, Supervisors, and Administrative Support staff by proclaiming January 13 °i
through January 17`x', 2014 as Employment and Eligibility Staff Recognition Week in Butte County.
