HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-045WHEREAS, the citizens of Butte County are committed to promoting the mental health and well-being
of all citizens;
WHEREAS, the mental health of our citizens is essential to the continued well-being and vitality of our
families, businesses, and communities; and
WHEREAS, greater public awareness about mental illnesses can help change negative attitudes and behaviors
toward people with mental illnesses; and
WHEREAS, with effective treatment, those individuals with mental health conditions can recover and lead full,
productive lives; and
WHEREAS, each business, school, government agency, faith -based organization, health care provider, and
citizen has a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors do hereby recognize May 2014 as
Mental Health Awareness Month in Butte County. As members of the Board of Supervisors, we also call UPOD
our community to commit to increasing awareness and understanding of mental health, the steps our citizens
can take to protect their mental health, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people with
mental health conditions.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte this 6"' day of May 2014, by
the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Wahl, Kirk, Lambert and Chair Teeter
