HomeMy WebLinkAbout14-050 f i. i >✓ 11 ,- y/�r � r r / 1 r lr r /, l ,� /,r.f ,����� ,111 ( Ia/. / // �`!/' .r ,.�h/f r,i/ r, ( �, r,l/ i'.rr/r�,Il, vt✓ /'r r � r fi" lA irr//r /i rr�%r/ /I/ �, r J�y r /"f jrGr3 �/ ,r;� a �„r,� r/ 1 ,p,;rJ, ,!, �;, r //,r � ��/ %I/ ),/ip,/lf��i/�9�/t pr/�r �l� ��//,1/ f/�✓ ✓11 , ,r r'r1', 1'c'i r�, i I r / ' F. � r,1 r' �, % ,f�i/ � / ,r.,l, Gf,/ I�/��rJ „�,r, /r r/ r//✓ir.,rll�lfr,,l,L,l//i/i,/ff/,r � . ,,>, ✓ r r i f.,,,,rl�„ ,/ , r �/(/,tG�,irr r. ,� .., // r,." r/�,%,� .,.n ,J��,../�/,. r ¢/ iJ,�.../.r r,�,,,ii,�✓'„/�iC,!Il,r,/////���r,,,,rj✓i..��l�n,riilr! /�/..�/l rr �r,,,r7d! t` / Resolution No. 14`050 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AY 2014 S WATER AND WATERSHEDAWARENESS NT IN U E COUNTY WHEREAS, California is marking its 27th annual observance of May as Water Awareness Month and its tenth year of celebrating Watershed AwarenessMonth; and WHEREAS, water is a resource that is vital to the people, economy, wildlife and environment of the County of Butte; and WHEREAS, the Board has recognized the importance of water within our county through the passage of various ordinances for its protection, including Chapter 238, the Water Well ordinance that outlines specifications on spacing and construction of wells; Chapter 33, the Groundwater Conservation ordinance; and Chapter 33A the Basin Management Objectives ordinance; and WHEREAS, the Board recognizes the importance of working together to increase the public's understanding of water-related issues and the need to manage and conserve this valuable resource for future generations; and WHEREAS, the County of Butte, the Butte County Resource Conservation District, California Watershed Network, and other watershed partnerships in conjunction with the State of California, are celebrating Water and Watershed Awareness Month in May 2014; and WHEREAS, calling attention to the importance of the County of Butte watersheds will increase the awareness that we all live in a watershed and how we impact the health and viability of watersheds through our everyday activities, and WHEREAS, keeping our watersheds healthy protects public health, water supply and quality, fisheries, wildlife, agriculture, economic development and recreation activities in the County of Butte; and WHEREAS, a steadfast dedication to water and watershed awareness represents a worthy commitment to future generations; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes May 2014 as Water and Watershed Awareness Month in the County of Butte and urges every citizen of the County to recognize the importance of both sound water management and the watershed in which you live, and to commit to keep learning and identifying how you can make a difference, even in your own backyard.
