AN INTERIM ORDINANCE ZONING A PORTION OF THE COUNTY
OF BUTTE AN "A-3" AGRICULTURAL} DISTRICT, PURSUANT
TO ORDINANCE N0 . 4 75 , A5 AMENDED
The Board of Superviisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, under and pursuant to Ordinance no. 475, as amended,
and declaring an emergency, DO ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The hereinafter described area situated in the
County of Butte, State of California, shall, be and it is hereby
zoned as an "A-~3" (Agricultural} District, for a period of 120
days, and such area sha11 be subject to the restrictions and re-
stricted uses and regulations hereinafter specified and provided.
Said area so zoned being located in the unincorporated area of
Butte County, California, -southeast o~f Chico, more particularly
described as follows:
Lots 1 through 14 being all of "Bruce Tract" per
map recorded in Map Book 8 on Page l5 in the Office
of Butte County Recorder and
A portion of Sec 12, T21N, R~.E, described as beginning
at the southeast corner of .Lot 13 of said "Bruce
Tract", thence S 20° 41' E, 1886.67 ft ., thence
S 55° 50' W, 1665..75 ft. to the East line of the
Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way; thence
northwesterly along said East Southern Pacific
Railroad Right-of -way line to the southwest corner
of Lot 14 of said "Bruce Tract"; thence N 51° 58' E,
along the south boundary of said "Bruce Tract", 1489.4
ft. to the southeast corner of Lot 13, being also the
point of beginning.
Containing 196 acres, more or less.
SECTION 2. REGULATIONS FOR AN "A-3" DISTRICT: The
following regulations-shall apply in an "A-3" District:
2.1 USES PERMITTED:

b. General Farming, horticulture, commercial livestock,
poultry production, warehousing and storage.
c. Accessory buildings and uses pertinent to the
permitted uses, including agricultural parocessing
plants.
d. Housing facilities (including mobile homes} to
accomadate only agricultural employees and their
families employed by the owner or operator of the
premises and provided further that such housing
facility shall be considered accessory to the main
building and shall conform to the provision per-
taining to required yard and open space for dwellings
e. Mobile homes to house one family when such mobile
home is the only housing facility located on the
premises, provided the following conditions are con-
formed to:
1. The floor area within the mobile home shall not
be less than five hundred (5DD) square feet.
2. The parcel of ].and conforms to Section 2.3 {Mini~-
mum lot area of 5 acres}, ar is a smaller parcel
of land lawfully created prior to the enactment
of the Ordinance, subject to written approval
by the Director of Planning.
2.2 THE FOLLOWING USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE PERMIT
IN EACH CASE:
a. Golf courses and country clubs.

b. Public or quasi-pub~.ic uses including churches, fire
houses, hospitals and clinics, parks and playgrounds,
schools, public utility buildings and professional
buildings.
2.3 MINIMUM LOT AREA REQUIRED:
Minimum lot area shall not be less than five (5)
acres .
2.4 FRONT YARD REQUIRED:
Minimum front yard shall be fifty (50} feet from the
centerline of the road, except where the road is
classified by the County as a Federal Aid Secondary
Road and the minimum building setback requirements
shall be fifty-five (55} feet from the centerline
of the road.
2.5 SIDE YARD REQUIRED:
Minimum side yard shall not be less than five (5)
feet.
SECTION 3. All uses of land not specifically authorized
and permitted under Section 2 are prohibited within the district.
SECTION 4. The penalties for the violation of the zoning
hereby imposed within the distr~.ct shall be as provided in Section
15 or Ordinance No. X75. In compliance with the provisions of the
Zoning Enabling Ordinance, this ordinance shall from and after
its effective date become a supplement to and part of the Zoning
Enabling Ordinance.
SECTION 5. This urgency ordinance shall take effect

1 immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen
2 {15) days after its passage shall be published once with the manes
3 of all members voting for and against the same in the
4 Chico Enterprise- _ __, a newspaper in general circulation in
~ the County of Butte, State of California, The facts constituting
6 the urgency on which this ordinance is based are:
7 1. In order to maintain the integrity of the existing
8 land use during zoning hearings.
9 PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE Board of Supervisors of the
10 County of Butte, State of California, on the .:7th day of May,
