AN INTERIM ORDINANCE ZONING A PORTION OF THE COUNTY
OF BUTTE AN "A-3" (AGRICULTURAL} DISTRICT, PURSUANT
TO ORDINANCE NO. 475, AS AMENDED.
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, under and pursuant to Ordinance No. 475, as amended,
and declaring an emergency, DO ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The hereinafter described area situated in
County of Butte, State of California, shall be and it is hereby
zoned as an "A-3" (Agricultural) District, for a period of 60
days, and such area shall be .subject ~to the restrictions and re-
stricted uses and regulations hereinafter specified and provided.
Said area sa zoned being located in the unincorporated area of
Butte County, California, southeast of Chico, more particularly
described as follows:
Lots 1 through 14 being all of "Bruce Tract" per ma.p
recorded in Map Book 8 on Page 15 in the Office of Butte
County Recorder and
A portion of Sec 12, T21N, R1E, described as beginning
at the southeast corner of Lot 13 of said "Bruc:~ Tract=',
thence S 2p° 41' E, 1886.67 ft., thence S 55° 50' W,
1666,75 ft. to the east line of the Southern Pacific
Railroad right-of-way;; thence northwesterly along said
east Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way line to the
southwest corner of Lot 14 of said "Bruce Tract"; thence
N 51° 58' E, along the south boundary of said "Bruce
Tract", 1489.4 ft. to the southeast corner of Lot 13,
being also the point of beginning.
Containing 196 acres, more or less.
SECTION 2. REGULATIONS FOR AN "A-3" DISTRICT. The
fallowing regulations shall apply in an "A-3" District:
2.1 USES PERMITTED:
a. Single-family dwellings.
b. General farming, horticulture, commercial livestock,

poultry production, warehousing and storage.
c. Accessary buildings and uses pertinent to the
ermitted uses includin a ricultural r

plants.
d. Housing facilities (including mobile homes) to
accomodate only agricultural employees and their
families employed by the owner or operator of the
premises; and provided further that such housing
facility shall be considered accessory to the main
building and shall conform to the provision per-
taming to required yard. and open space for dwelling
e. Mobile homes to house one family when such mobile
home is the only housing facility located on the
premises, provided the following conditions are con-
formed to:
1. The floor area within the mobile-home shall not
be less than five hundred (500) square feet.
2. The parcel of land conforms to Section 2.3 (Min-
imam lot area of 5 acres), or is a smaller parse
of land lawfully created prior to the enactment
of the Ordinance, subject to written approval
by the Director of Planning.
2.2 THE FOLLOWING USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE PERMIT
IN EACH CASE:
a. Golf courses and country clubs
b. Public or quasi-public uses including churches, fire

~ houses, hospitals and clinics, parks and playgrounds,
2 schools, public utility buildings and professional
3 buildings.
4 2.3 MINIMUM LOT AREA REQUIRED:
5 Minimum lot area shall not be less than five {5)
6 acres.
7 2.4 FRONT YARD REQUIRED:
8 Minimum front yard shall be fifty {50) feet from the
9 centerline of the road, except where the road is
10 classified by the County as a Federal Aid Secondary
~1 Road and the minimum building setback requirements"
].2 shall be fifty--five {55) feet from the centerline
13 of the road.
14 2.5 SIDE YARD REQUIRED:
15 Minimum side yard shall not be Tess than five (5)
16 feet.
17 SECTION 3. All uses of land not specifically authorized
Y8 and permitted under Section 2 are prohibited within .the district.
~9 SECTION 4. The penalties for the violation of the zoning
2U hereby imposed within the district shall be as provided in Section
2~ 15 of Ordinance No. 475. In compliance with the provisions of the
22 Zoning Enabling Ordinance, this ordinance shall .from and after
23 its effective date become a supplement to and part of the Zoning
24 Enabling Ordinance.
~ SECTION 5. This urgency ordinance shall take effect
28 immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen

{15) days after its passage shall. be published once with the names
of all members voting for and against the sanne in the 'Chico'
Enterprise , a newspaper in general circulation in
the County of Butte, State of California, The facts constituting
the urgency on which this ordinance is based are:
1. Tn order to maintain the integrity of the existing
land use during zoning hearings.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, on the ~ 20~h day of
