AN INTERIM ORDINANCE ZONING A PORTSON OF THE COUNTY
OF BUTTE AN "S-1" (MEDIUM-DENSITY SUBURBAN RESIDENTIAL}
DISTRICT, PURSUANT TO ORDINANCE NOa 475, AS AMERTDED

The Board of Super visors of the County of Butte, State o~
California, under and pursuant to Ordinance No. 465, as amended,
and declaring an emergency, DO ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The hereinafter described area situated in
the County of Butte, State of California, shall be and it is
hereby zoned as an "S-1" (Medium-Density Suburban Residential}
District, for a period of x.20 days, and such area shall be
subject to the restrictions and restricted uses and regulations
hereinafter specified and provided. Said area so zoned being
located in the unincorporated area of Butte County, California,
near Gridley, mare particularly described as follows:
Being a portion of the NEB of Sec 17, T17N, R3E,
MDB&M, described as commencing at the SW corner of ,
Lot 11 of "Manzanita Place Sub. No. 1", per map of
record in Book 6 on Page 54; thence south along the
east right-of-way line of Zarkin Rd., 515 ft. to the
paint of beginning; thence east parallel with the
south line of Lot 11, said ll~lanzanita Place Sub. No . 1,
631 ft.; thence south parallel with the east right-
of-way line of Larkin Rd., 299 ft. to the north line
of Lot 1 of "Andrew ~N. Campbell Sub.", per map of
record in Book 8 on page 33; thence west along the north
line of I,ot 1 of said "Andrew ~V, Campbell Sub." , 84
ft.; thence south parallel with the east right-of--way.
line of Larkin Rd., 375.5 ft.; thence west parallel
with the north line of said Lot 1, 547 ft. to the
east right-of--way line of Zarkin Rd.; thence north
along the east right-of-way line of Larkin Rd., 67405
ft. to the point of beginning, containing 9.5 acres,
more or less.
SECTION 2. REGULATIONS FOR AAT "S-1" DISTRICT:
The following regulations shall apply in an "S-1" Dist-

a. Single-family dwellings, not including tents or
mobile homes,
b. .Accessory buildings pertinent to the permitted uses
2.2 Agricultux'al uses, except livestock, subject to the
fallowing requirements:
a. For each horse or head of cattle over one (1} year
of age, one (1} acre..
b. For each head of swine over ten {10) weeks of age,
one (1) acre.
c. For each head of sheep or goats, one {l) acre for
the first head and one half (1/2} acre for each heat
thereafter.
2.3 LOT AREA:
Minimum required area of a lot per dwelling unit
shall not be less than eight thousand, one hundred
twenty-five ($,125) square feet.
2,4 LOT WIDTH:
Minimum lot width shall not be less than sixty-five
(65) feet.
2.5 FRONT YARD:
T~~.nimum front yard shall be fifty ( 50 ) feet from
the centerline of the road, except where the raced
is classified by the County as a Federal Aid Secon-
dary Raced, the minimum building setback requirement
shall be fifty-five (55) feet from. the centerline
of the road.

2.6 SIDE YARD:
1l~Iinimum side yards shall not be less than five ~5)
feet.
SECTION 3. THE ~I~I~OWII`TG USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE
PERII'IIT IN EACH CASE:
a. Public and quasi-public uses, including churches.
b. Hospitals, parks and playgrounds, schools and
public utility buildings,
SECTION 4. All uses of land not specifically authorized
and permitted in Sections 2 and 3 are prohibited,
SECTION 5, The penalties for the violation of the zonin
hereby imposed within the district shah. be as provided in the
Zoning Enabling Ordinance. In compliance with the provisions of
the Zoning Enabling Ordinance, this Ordinance shall fra m and
after its effective date become a supplement to andpart of the

Zoning Enabling Ordinance.
SECTION 6. This urgency ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its passage, and before the expiration of fif-
teen (15) days after its passage shall be published once with
the names of allmembers voting far and against the same in the
Gridley Herald__~, , a newspaper in general circulation in
the County of Butte, State of California. The facts constitutin
the urgency on which this ordinance is based are:
1. In order to maintain the integrity of the existing
land use during zoning hearings.
