RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING APRIL 2015 AS
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
WHEREAS, National Child Abuse Prevention Month will be recognized throughout the United States,
during the month of April 2015; and
WHEREAS, the prevention of child abuse and neglect is an issue that requires the involvement of all
members of the community; and
WHEREAS, child maltreatment often occurs when people find themselves in stressful situations,
without community resources or the knowledge of how to cope; and
WI-IEREAS, child abuse and neglect can be reduced by ensuring each parent and family has the support
they need to raise children in a healthy environment; and
WHEREAS, child abuse is considered to be one of the our nation's most serious public health problems
with scientific studies documenting the link between the abuse and neglect of children and a wide range of
medical, emotional, psychological and behavioral disorders; and
WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships created among
state and local government agencies, schools, faith communities, civic organizations, law enforcement and the
business community
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, does hereby
proclaim April 2015 as Child Abuse Prevention Month and call upon all citizens, community agencies and
organizations, medical facilities, and businesses to increase their participation in efforts to prevent child abuse.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this day 7th of April 2015, by
the following votes:
