HomeMy WebLinkAbout15-050 1140,51 er VOJAII ''14''' %"44,4(iint re<4 '/77,77,7;?17' /IP tk/I(';'10infoilpru.7,77, wxyweyfigA 44/,,prrem 7.1210v ph pir" ,ort live4 fy; vinlpr,"011,?7,;;40 ''110,r/A11,00,,11,,,,I,A,,!,7 1,01Apv,//qqt;i0; 4 / I * wirypie,*(inoffriootkiN ve;i0/04/1 16, 01 '14;16 xfrifilfg0, ,i,97);411(0%,;, laeMbditidW1e;Ma;kby,),ab,W /11101e9gAlis4PU zr*,041d;;VJAVNiag,,,a/f:kgtelolikk§,,wiz 14F,1741": Resolution No. 15-050 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING APRIL 19-25, 2015 AS NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK WHEREAS,Americans are the victims of more than 26 million crimes each year,and crime can touch the lives of anyone regardless of age, national origin, race, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, immigration, or economic status; and WHEREAS, for the fiscal year ending June 2014, the Butte County Victim/Witness Assistance Center offered advocacy assistance to 4,399 local crime victims; filed 1,082 applications to the Victims' Compensation Board with a total amount of $1,048,800 paid to local victims; and WHEREAS, involving survivors helps victim service providers and criminal justice professionals understand the culture, values, and expectations of under- and unserved victims who seek assistance and justice; and WHEREAS, engaging victims' communities and learning from leaders about their community's unique needs helps service providers foster a supportive and culturally relevant atmosphere in which victims seek help and healing; and WHEREAS, with the full weight of their community and victim service providers behind them, survivors will feel empowered to face their grief, loss, fear, and anger without fear of judgment, and will feel understood and worthy of support; and WHEREAS,National Crime Victims' Rights Week, April 19-25, 2015, is an opportune time to commit to ensuring that all victims of crime even those who are challenging to reach or serve are offered culturally and linguistically accessible and appropriate services in the aftermath of crime; and WHEREAS, Butte County's Victim/Witness Assistance Center is hereby dedicated to building partnerships with trusted sources of support, including community leaders,religious groups, schools,and other agencies to better reach and serve all victims of crime, no matter their community; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims the week of April 19- 25, 2015, as CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK, and reaffirms this County's commitment to creating a victim service and criminal justice response that assists all victims of crime during Crime Victims' Rights Week and throughout the year; and to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for those community members, victim service providers, and criminal justice professionals who are committed to improving our response to all victims of crime so that they may find relevant assistance, support,justice and peace.
