A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, IN SUPPORT OF
THE MUSEUM OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ART/K8ONCA\AND AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN
APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE MUSEUM GRANT PROGRAM
FOR THE REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 900 ESPLANADE, CHICO, CALUFO•MA
WHEREAS, the County of Butte, a political subdivision of the State of California, is the owner of the
property located at 900 Esplanade in Chico, California; and
WHEREAS,the County of Butte in support of the Museum of Northern California Art entered into a long
term Lease Agreement (County of Butte Contract Number R41401) for a portion of the property, with a
termination date of March 31, 2033, that provides for extension beyond the termination date; and
WHEREAS, the Museum of Northern California Art has developed, and the County has approved, a
business plan that, in part, includes property improvements financed by various types of fund raising; and
WHEREAS, completion of Phase 1 of the proposed property improvements would provide a state-
mandated, exterior handicapped-accessible ramp and associated appurtenances; and
WHEREAS, the project is expected to be exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental
Quality Act (CEQA) under Section 15301 Existing Facilities and the provisions of the National Environmental
Protection Act (NEPA) are not applicable to the proposed project; and
WHEREAS, the Museum of Northern California Art desires to make application to The Museum Grant
Program, sponsored by the California Natural Resources Agency and funded through the California Clean Water,
Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks and Coastal Protection Act of 2002 (Proposition 40) for approximately
$75,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Museum of Northern California Art certifies the availability of one hundred percent(100%)
matching funds, for a total of approximately$150,000.00 to complete Phase 1 of the proposed property
improvements.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE T RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, do hereby:
1. Certify that the County of Butte is the owner of the real property and that the building
has a useful life beyond 15 years; and
2. Certifies that the County of Butte supports the efforts of The Museum of Northern
California Art and has entered into a Lease Agreement with a termination date that
exceeds 15 years; and
3. Approves the Business Plan of the Museum of Northern California Art that includes fund
raising for exterior and interior building improvements; and
4. Authorizes the filing of an application by The Museum of Northern California Art for The
Museum Grant Program, sponsored by the California Natural Resources Agency and
funded through the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks and
Coastal Protection Act of 2002 (Proposition 40); and
S. Certifies that the Museum of Northern California Art will provide the required matching
funds.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 11th day of August, 2015, by the
following vote:
