I:REWERY AS A 2015 SACRAM TO CO IINTY SUSTAINAt LE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD REGIENT
WHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protectio Agency has declared September 21 - 27, 2015
Pollution Prevention Week, in order to highlight the effs rts of government, industry and the public in preventing
pollution; and
WHEREAS, PollutionPrevention is a conscientious approach to environmental protection that focuses
on design for the environment, principles, source reduction, recycling, and treat lent of waste products making
it a favorable and progressive strategy for protecting our environment; and
WHEREAS, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors recognizing that businesses needed regulatory,
technical, and pollution prevention assistance, incorporating all environmental aspects (air, water, and waste),
approved the establishment of the Business Environmental Resource Center in June of 1993 to provide such
assistance to Sacramento County businesses, thus promoting comprehensive environ ental compliance and
economic development; and
WHEREAS, the Business Environmental Resource Center, through funding provided by Sacramento
Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Department of Water
Resources, Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District and the Sacramento Regional Solid Waste Authority
offer BERC's Sustainable Business program to businesses throughout the county and cities therei ; and
WI EREAS, the Sacramento County toard of Supervisors honored those businesses and government
entities implementing Pollution Prevention measures, conserving resources, demonstrating environme tal
excellence and proactive leadership at the Annual Sacramento Sustainable Business of the Year Awards
Ceremony and Expo on September 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS the tusiness Environmental Resource Center selected eight col denies to receive recognition
as Sacramento Sustainable Businesses of the Year, including the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
WHEREAS, the :tate County Board of Supervisors wishes to acknowledge the Sierra Nevada Brewing
Company for their leadership in sustainable business practices; and
WEHREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors wishes to publically congratulate Sierra Nevada
Brewing Company for their award through the BERC Sustainable Business program.
NOW,THEREFORE, the County of Butte resolves the following:
Section 1. The Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes that the lusiness Environmental Resource
Center presented the Sacramento County 2015 Sacramento Sustainable Business of the Year Awards to eight
businesses, including Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
Section 2. The ;oard of Supervisors recognizes and appreciates the various sustainable business
practices implemented by Sierra Levada Brewing Company and the economic impact the co pany has on the
Butte County economy.

following vote:
