RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF
KAREN FREDERICK
UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE BUTTE COU, TV PUBLIC ,EALTH DEPARTMENT
DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
WHEREAS, Karen Frederick, Supervisor, Support Services for the division of Environmental Health, has
announced her retirement as of October 29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Karen was born in Butte County with the true heart of a public servant, dedicated to serving
this County in both her personal and professional life; and
WHEREAS, Karen attended public schools in Chico and then received her Associate's Degree in Busi-
ness in 1974 from Butte Community College; and
WHEREAS, Karen began her tenure with Butte County in the Public Health Department's Environmen-
tal Health Division as an extra help employee January 7, 1986, and then became full-time August 11,
1986 as a Typist Clerk I. Thus began her journey of being a key staff member of the division, all while
sharing a typewriter and phone with other clerical staff., and
WHEREAS, Karen was reclassified to Supervisor, Support Services on December 18, 2004 and began
managing the clerical staff for Environmental Health and Animal Control which was then a part of the
Environmental Health Division; and
WHEREAS, Karen accepted the challenge of moving the division forward from the paper file era into
electronic data management and billing beginning in 1986 and as the project lead for the implemen-
tation of EnvisionConnect in 2009; and
WHEREAS, in 2014 she was recognized in a Leadership Success Story published nationwide by Decade
Software as a key member of a successful agency conversion using EnvisionConnect; and
WHEREAS, Karen's sound business practices have kept the division functioning smoothly, facilitating
necessary staff training, and delivering continued quality service and public health protection even,
with challenging financial conditions; and
WHEREAS, Karen has worked under five Public Health Directors, in support of six Environmental Health
Directors and countless managers and staff over the last 29 years; and
WHEREAS, Karen has been a "work mom", mentor and friend to so many of those working with her
and she will be greatly missed by all of those that work with her;
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors expresses its gratitude
and appreciation to Karen Frederick for 29 years of dedicated and loyal service to the citizens of Butte
County.

following vote:
