RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF SHARON A. STONE
WHEREAS, Sharon A. Stone, Director of the Butte County Department of Child Support Services, has announced
her retirement effective November 30, 2015; and
HEREAS,Sharon began her career in Child Suppo 1 Services in July 2001. Previously she served Butte County as
a Deputy District Attorney and Interim Human Resources Director; and
WHEREAS, Sharon has continued to develop local policies and procedures and enhance the Child Support
program by always striving for excelle ce. This commitment to excellence is best noted as the department has
improved its state ranking of 57th in 2001 to 18th as of October 2015; and
WHEREAS, Sharon's vision to put "Butte on the Map" was initially realized when Butte County began to operate
the state's first Regional Child Support Call Center in January 2009. At that time, the call center was serving one other
county and took approximately 3,889 calls per month. That call center has continued to expand and is now serving 10
counties and is taking close to 24,000 calls a month, with further growth anticipated for the future; and
WHE•EAS, Sharon's commitment to the Child Support program stretches far beyond the boundaries of Butte
County and was clearly seen when she served a dual role as both Director of Butte and Tehama Child Support Services
from July of 2011 to September 2013 and also in her participation on numerous statewide committees, including but not
limited to the Quality Assurance Committee, Order Setting Committee, IV-A/IV-D interface Committee and the
Statewide Customer Service Committee; and
WHEREAS, Sharon has been a leader and mentor both to employees under her oversight, as well as, to
colleagues throughout the county and the state developing and delivering training on subjects such as Confidentiality,
Ethics, Emergency Preparedness and Leadership; and
,EREAS, Sharon has served as both a member of the Board of 111 irectors and as President of the Child Support
Directors Association; and
WHEREAS, Sharon has diligently and ethically worked in the best interest of Butte County, earning the respect of
her employees, colleagues and peers throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, Sharon leaves a legacy in Butte County which includes a high performing department, a state
recognized regional call center, as well as a competent, capable staff well thought of throughout the state who are also
participating on statewide committees; all of which contribute to better service to the families served by the Child
Support program; and
WHEREAS,Sharon has served Butte County and its constituents with faithful attention and respect for the needs
of varying groups during her many years of service.
NOW,THEREFORE, ;E IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors wishes to express to Sharon A. Stone sincere
appreciation for her many years of dedication and service to Butte County, and further, wishes her well on her
retirement.
