IAIHE'EAS, in recognition of the financial sacrifices County employees continue to make; and
WHEREAS, in acknowledgement of the reduced amount of County business that is typically
conducted by residents on Christmas Eve day; and
WHEREAS, President Obama declared a Federal holiday beginning at noon on Thursday,
December 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS,the Chief Administrative Officer, in consultation with the Chair of the Board of
Supervisors, authorized the closure of County Offices for a full day on December 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS, County offices that already operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and County
offices required by legislation, regulation or other mandate to be open continued their operations as
required; and
EREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends the closure and holiday hours to be one-time in
nature and not precedent setting; and
the Board of Supervisors, under Government Code §24260, has the authority to set
County business hours by ordinance or resolution.
THERFoRE BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors ratifies the Chief
Administrative Officer's authorization of the closure of County offices that were not otherwise required
to be open on Thursday, December 24, 2015; and
EITFUTHER ESSLVED that:
(1) all County employees be granted a one-time additional holiday, per the applicable
Memorandum of Understanding; and
(2) provisions outlined in the County's Personnel Rules that apply to employees who
work on designated holidays will apply; and

(3) the closure of County Offices on December 24, 2015 as an additional holiday
granted to County employees is one-time in nature and is not to be construed as
precedent setting for any future year; and

on this 12th day of January, 2016, by the following vote:
