RESOLUTION REGARDING
CALIFORNIA WELFARE AND INSTITUTIONS CODE 527010
30 DAY CERTIFICATION FOR ADDITIONAL MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT
WHEREAS, Butte County Department of Behavioral Health (BCDBH) wishes to implement sections 5270.10
through 5270.65 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code in order to treat individuals in the least restrictive manner;
and
WHEREAS, Butte County Department of Behavioral Health assures that this will apply only to individuals on an
involuntary hold within the County and that there are no cost impacts resulting from the extension of the Involuntary Code
section of the Californian Welfare and Institutions Code; and
WHEREAS, implementation would not result in a longer length of stay, implementation of code only changes the
legal authority under which a patient is treated while at the Psychiatric Health Facility (PF-IF); and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors make a finding that any additional costs incurred by the county in the
implementation of this article are funded either by new funding sufficient to cover the costs incurred by the county
resulting from this article, or funds redirected from cost savings resulting from this article, or a combination thereof, so that
no current service reductions will occur as a result of the enactment of this article.
WHEREAS, BCDBH requests Board of Supervisors' authorization to implement the 5270.10 section of the
California Welfare and Institutions Code; and
WHEREAS, this authorization will remain in place until rescinded.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the zutte County Board of Supervisors authorizes BCOBH to
implement Welfare and Institutions Code 5270.10 through 5270.65.

following vote:
