10164iiiNiW44 RESOLUTION DECLARING MARCH 2016
AS SOCIAL WORK MONTH
WHEREAS, Social Workers confront the most challenging issues facing individuals, families, communities and
society, and forge solutions that help people reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, the National Association of Social Workers declared "Forging Solutions out of Challenges"as this
year's theme for Social Work Month in honor of the contributions Social Workers make at all levels of society; and
WHEREAS, on a daily basis, Social Workers embody this year's theme by helping individuals, communities and
the larger society tackle and solve issues that confront them; and
WHEREAS, Social Workers provide assistance to protect children and improve the social and psychological
functioning of children and their families; and
WHEREAS, Social Workers help children find loving homes and create new families through adoption; and
WHEREAS,Social Workers work with older adults and their families to improve their quality of life and ability to
live independently as long as possible,with access to quality services; and
WHEREAS,Social Workers celebrate the courage, hope, and strength of the human spirit throughout their
careers.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, hereby declare the month of March 2016 as Social Work Month in Butte County to honor all Social Workers
for their commitment to the profession of social work; their dedication to the highest moral and ethical standards; and
their practice of social work with the competency of their profession, as their primary obligation, for the welfare of the
individuals and families served.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 8th day of March 2016 by the following vote:
