NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK 2016
AS APRIL 4-10,2016
WHEREAS, public health professionals and others who work to promote public health in our communities have an important
role in protecting and furthering the health and welfare of our residents, and their dedicated efforts are appreciated and worthy of
commendation;and
WHEREAS,a presidential proclamation in 1995 designated the first full week of April as National Public Health Week to high-
light efforts in communities across the nation and to heighten awareness of important public health issues;and
WHEREAS,the American Public Health Association has declared April 4-10, 2016, as National Public Health Week; and
WHEREAS,through this year's theme, "Healthiest Nation 2030"Butte County Public Health will join other counties in Califor-
nia and across the nation to raise awareness that healthy communities start with healthy individuals; and
WHEREAS,during National Public Health Week,the Butte County Public Health Department will focus on internal educational
efforts promoting healthy lifestyle and diet changes to improve the health of our work community;and
WHEREAS, healthy snack baskets will be available at all Public Health locations, and Public Health employees will nominate
their co-workers to receive awards recognizing outstanding quality improvement,customer service, and overall excellence; and
WHEREAS,the Butte County Health Department has also organized the second annual countywide walking challenge where
50 teams (444 members) and an additional 141 individuals representing all county departments are competing to see who can take
home the bragging rights for most steps walked,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes April 4-10,2016,as"Butte
County Public Health Week,"commends the Public Health Department and others working in the field of public health for outstanding
and dedicated service to the community, and encourages the residents of Butte County to join together to create strong and healthy
communities in Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 22nd day of March 2016 by the following vote:
