RESOLUTa , RECOGNIZING NATIONAL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK 2016
WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Department would like to recognize the contributions of two dedicated groups
of volunteers in honor of National Volunteer Week, 2016; and
WHEREAS,the Butte County Fire Department Citizen Volunteer Firefighters number over 180 and augment fire,
medical and rescue response to their neighbors in 16 Butte County communities; and
WHEREAS,the Butte County Fire Department/Cal Fire "Volunteers in Prevention" (VIP'S) spend hundreds of
hours annually performing fire prevention programs, school and community events and provide vital information to the
public during emergency incidents through the Fire Department Call Center; and
WHEREAS,the citizen volunteer firefighters and VIP's are integral parts of the Butte County Fire Department
making it the largest full service fire department between Sacramento and Eugene, Oregon; and
WHEREAS,the efforts of these volunteer groups have helped save lives and property through their emergency
response and fire prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, the sacrifice and dedication of these volunteers does not go unnoticed by career members of the fire
department and the citizens they serve.
NOW,THEREFORE ';E IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors and the Butte County Fire
Department recognize and thank the volunteer firefighters and Volunteers in Prevention for their role in carrying out the
fire department's mission of service to the citizens of Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this day of April 12, 2016 by the following
vote:
