HomeMy WebLinkAbout16-043 ,4014,01:144,Cl„c?9,,, 47,74w)Vigi 14 Resolution No l6043 RESOLUTION ESTA1 LISHING NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK-APRIL 10-16, 2416 WHEREAS, libraries are not just about what we have for people, but what we do for and with people; and WHEREAS, libraries have Gong served as trusted and treasured institutions, and library workers and librarians fuel efforts to better their communities, campuses and schools; and WHEREAS, libraries are evolving in order to serve their communities and to continue to fulfill their role in leveling the playing field for all who seek information and access to technologies; and WHEREAS, libraries, library workers and library volunteers open up a world of possibilities through innovative outreach, responsive programming, and the power of literacy; and WHEREAS, libraries and library workers look beyond traditional roles to provide more opportunities for community engagement, delivering new services that connect closely with patrons' needs; and WHEREAS, libraries support democracy and effect social change through their commitment to provide equitable access to information for all library users regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, ability, sexual orientation,gender identity or socio-economic status; and WHEREAS, libraries, librarians, library workers and supporters across America are celebrating National Library Week. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Butte County Board of Supervisors proclaim National Library Week April 10-16, 2016, and encourage all residents to visit the library this week and explore what's new at your library, and engage with your librarian. Because of you, libraries transform.
