HomeMy WebLinkAbout16-088 plyotgAp!;4,fri ///,„4,;/i/ !://,/:;; 97411( / ,64,"04y,"('", 4//'7,411) ",t4tyd pi* (r/ Vfiiilri'',7,?/)10,191p/4 ,17/////' 1401 j, Resolution No. 16-088 RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF MIKE HUERTA UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE BUM COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH WHEREAS, Mike Huerta, Program Manager, Public Health for the Division of Environmental Health, has announced his retirement as of July 8, 2016; and WHEREAS, Mike was born in Lindsay, CA with the true heart of a public servant, dedicated to serving the public in both his personal and professional life; and WHEREAS, Mike earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology,with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Environmental Health from San Jose State University in 1974 and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from CSU Chico in 1993; and WHEREAS, Mike first worked in Environmental Health at Alameda County from 1976 to 1979 and then at Plumas County from 1979 to 1990; and WHEREAS,Mike began his tenure with Butte County in the Public Health Department's Environmental Health Division as an Environmental Health Supervisor in 1990, assuming the duties of supervising the Paradise area office during a period of change in land use requirements and budgetary challenges; and WHEREAS,during his years at the Paradise office, Mike was instrumental in the development of Chico Nitrate Compliance Program and County Service Area monitoring programs; and WHEREAS, Mike was promoted to Program Manager in 2003, where he began managing the Hazardous Materials and Solid Waste Programs. Mike build the programs on a sound technical foundation and gaining for the certification from the California Environmental Protection Agency for the Division as a Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) in 2003; and WHEREAS, Mike approached the complex and daunting challenge of implementing the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) for the Division with dedication, ultimately transitioning CUPA reporting into the electronic data management age, thereby streamlining the reporting process for local businesses; and WHEREAS, in 2014 Mike took on the responsibility of managing Consumer Protection programs for the Division, in addition to the CUPA and Solid Waste programs; and WHEREAS, throughout his career Mike has been responsible for training and development of numerous staff; greatly enhancing program effectiveness and efficiency; and WHEREAS, Mike has consistently displayed an outstanding work ethic and tenacious dedication to completion of program development and goals; and WHEREAS, Mike has been an indispensable resource person, mentor and friend to so many of those working with him and will be greatly missed by all of those that work with him; and WHEREAS, Mike is a devoted family man, loving husband to his wife Debbie and daughters Rachael and Lindsay. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Mike Huerta for 26 years of dedicated and loyal service to the citizens of Butte County.
