RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PUBLIC SERVICE HOURS AND HOLIDAY CLOSURES
FOR THE BUTTE COUNTY LIBRARY
WHEREAS, Butte County Code Section 2.1 provides that the Board of Supervisors may, by
resolution, specify those office hours during which individual departments may be open to the public;
and
WHEREAS, the fiscal year 2016-17 adopted budget provided for additional hours at the Chico
Library, starting September 6, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Christmas Day 2016 and New Year's Day 2017 fall on Sundays; and
WHEREAS, Butte County's adopted holiday schedule provides that County staff will observe
Christmas day on Monday, December 26, 2016 and observe New Year's day on Monday, January 2,
2017; and
WHEREAS, current Board policy, established in Resolution 15-176, provides that, "All branches
normally closed on Mondays will observe Monday holidays on the preceding Saturday!' The Biggs,
Durham, Gridley, Oroville and Paradise libraries are normally closed on Mondays while the Chico
branch library is the only branch open to the public on Mondays; and
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, Library employees will be allowed to observe the holidays
for Christmas on December 24th or 25th and New Years on December 31st or January 1s'.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that all Library branches will
be closed to the public on Saturday December 24, Sunday December 25, 2016, Saturday December 31,
and Sunday January 1, 2017 and the Chico branch will remain open on Monday, December 26, 2016
and Monday, January 2, 2017; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that the Library branch hours
are as follows, effective September 6, 2016:
Biggs Branch Gridley Branch
Tuesday noon —6 pm Tuesday noon —6 pm
Saturday 10 am —4 pm Wednesday noon —6 pm
Thursday 10 am —5 pm
Friday 10 am —5 pm
Chico Branch Saturday 10 am -4 pm
Monday 9 am —5 pm Sunday 1 pm—5pm
Tuesday 9 am —7 pm
Wednesday 9 am —7 pm Oroville Branch
Thursday 9 am —7 pm Tuesday 10 am —6 pm
Friday 9 am —5 pm Wednesday 10 am —6 pm
Saturday 9 am —5 pm Thursday 10 am —5 pm
Sunday 1. pm —5pm Friday 10 am -5 pm
Saturday 10 am—5 pm
Durham Branch Sunday 1 pm —5pm

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that unless otherwise approved, ail branches normally closed on
Mondays will observe Monday holidays on the preceding Saturday and all branches will close at 5:00 p.m. on
the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Resolution 15-176, adopted November, 24, 2015 is hereby rescinded in
its entirety.
