Resolution No. 17-002
RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING EMPLOYMENT AND ELIGIBILITY STAFF WEEK
JANUARY 23, 2017—JANUARY 27, 2017 IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Employment and Eligibility Professionals enrich the lives of individuals by helping mitigate social,
environmental, economic and psychological employment barriers; and
WHEREAS, Eligibility Professionals are responsible for determining initial and continuing eligibility for a':variety
of public assistance programs which include the Affordable Care Act and expanded Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs,
and General Assistance; and
WHEREAS, in 2016, Eligibility Professionals supported on average over 75,000 individuals each month by
processing and maintaining benefits that provided medical care, housing, food and shelter; and
WHEREAS, Eligibility Professionals continue to improve their knowledge and expertise related to their
profession so they can evaluate individuals and famillies for eligibility to the public assistance programs;. and
WHEARAS, in 2016, Employment Professionals helped over 165 individuals find safe and secure permanent
housing; and worked with local employers to employ over 450 individuals being served by the California Work
Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids(CalWORKs) program; and
WUHEARAS, in 2016, Employment Professionals worked with a continuing caseload of over 1,000 customers
each month to guide them toward the path of self-sufficiency and to help them cultivate resiliency;and
WHEREAS,the aforementioned is possible because Employment and Eligibility (Professionals a:re assisted,
supported, and trained in the performance of their duties by skilled managerial and supervisory staff; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens of Butte County honor Employment and Eligibility Professionals who
serve our county residents with competence and compassion,
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that the County honors its
Employment and Eligibility Professionals,Supervisors,and Administrative Support staff by proclaiming January 23rd'
through January 27th 2017 as Employment and Eligibility Staff Recognition Week in Butte County.

January, 2017, by the following vote
