Resolution No. 17-018
RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING SCHOOL CHOICE WEEK IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, Butte County recognizes the important rale that an effective education plays
in preparing all students in Butte County to be successful adults, and that all children in Butte
County should have access to the highest-quality education possible; and
WHEREAS, Butte County is home to a multitude of high quality public and nonpublic
schools from which parents can choose for their children, in addition to families who educate
their children at home, and quality education is critically important to the economic vitality of
Butte County; and
WHEREAS, educational variety not only helps to diversify the economy, but also enhances
the vibrancy of the community, and Butte County has many high-quality teaching professionals
in all types of school settings who are committed to educating children; and
WHEREAS, School Choice Week is celebrated across the country by millions of students,
parents, educators, schools, and organizations to raise awareness of the need for effective
educational options.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in recognition of the importance of effective
education and the various opportunities in education within Butte County, the Butte County
Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim the week of January 22,2017, as.School Choice Week
in Butte County and urges all citizens to participate in the scheduled activities and programs
sponsored by Butte County School Choice Week.
