Resolution No. 17-089
RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF PHYLLIS ATKINS
UPON RETIREMENT FROM
BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, Phyllis Atkins, Social Worker Supervisor of the Department of Employment and Social Services
(DESS), has announced her retirement effective June 16, 7017; and
WHEREAS, Phyllis began her career with the County of Butte on March 7, 1988, as a Social Worker I and
successfully moved up the career ladder to Social Worker 11, III, IV and to her current responsible position as a
Social Worker Supervisor in the Children Services Division since 1999; and
WHEREAS, Phyllis has devoted her career to assuring that children were safe and families in our community
were served in a caring and professional manner; and
WHEREAS, as a Social Worker and Supervisor, Phyllis dedicated herself to providing excellent customer
service to staff and the families served,, and valued the role of educating and empowering staff to provide the
highest quality of work; and
WHEREAS, Phyllis has worked diligently for the past twenty-nine years in the best interest of Butte County
and its citizens, earning the respect of her DESS colleagues, employees, and the many families she served over the
years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Butte
County, extends its appreciation for her many years of dedicated service.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 13th day of June, 2017 by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Lambert, Teeter, a,nd Chair Connelly
