Resolution No. 17-135
RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING A DEADLY WANDERING AS'THE BOOK IN COMMON
FOR BUTTE COUNTY IN 2017-2018
WHEREAS, the County of Butte values reading, reflection, a,nd action in support of building a sense of
community, strengthening literacy, and advancing the common good; and
WHEREAS, the Book in Common's goal is to create a foundation for life-long learning by understanding
oneself and others and to intellectually, critically, and emotionally reflect on one's experiences and roles in
society, and
WHEREAS, programs such as the Book in Common enhance the intellectual community, foster dialogue
on important social issues, and value the diverse cultural perspectives found in contemporary society; and
WHEREAS, California State University, the City of Chico, Butte Community College, Butte County Public
Library, and local) citizens and book clubs around the County have selected A Deodly Wondering as the Book in
Common..
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognize A
Deadly Wandering as the Book in Common for 2017-2018 and urge all citizens to read, reflect, and take action
in support of the common good of the community,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 22"a day of August, 2017, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Lambert, Teeter, and Chair Connelly
