RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF HONEY RUN: BRIDGE DEDICATION
WHEREAS, Honey Run Bridge was built in 1886 and accepted by the Butte County Board of Supervisors as
completed on January 3, 1887; and
WHEREAS,the Honey Run Bridge was constructed by the American Bridge and Building Company of San Francisco,-
and
rancisco;and
WHEREAS,George Miller was appointed the Superintendent of Construction by Butte County; and
WHEREAS, the three-span wooden bridge was built uncovered, with the cover being added in 1901; and
WHEREAS, the Honey Run Bridge is the only three-span timber Pratt-type covered bridge in the United States;
and
WHEREAS,the Honey Run Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988; and
WHEREAS, the bridge was in continuous service until a truck crashed into it and collapsed the Eastern span on
April 12, 1965; and
WHEREAS,an association was formed by local citizens to restore the structure,and the covered bridge was rebuilt
and opened to pedestrian traffic in 1972; and
WHEREAS, the bridge was marked and dedicated by the Native Daughters of the Golden West„ Annie K. Bidwell
Parlor No. 168, Chico, in 1949.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, on its own behalf and on behalf
of the citizens of Butte County, acknowledge the plaque rededication by the Native 'Daughters of the Golden West, Annie
K. Bidwell Parlor No. 168, Chico, to be held on August 271” 2017 at 10:00 am at the Honey Run Covered Bridge,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 22nd day of August, 2017, by the following
vote:
AYES:Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Lambert,Teeter, and Chair Connelly
NOES: None

NOT VOTING; None
