DISASTER RELIEF RESOLUTION REGARDING ASSESSED VALUE
WHEREAS,Article V of Chapter 21, Section 21-84 of the Butte County Code provides that if the Assessor
determines that within the preceding 12 months a property has suffered damage caused by misfortune or calamity that
may qualify the owner for disaster relief, and no application for relief is made by the property owner,the Assessor may,
with the approval of the Board of Supervisors, reassess the particular property and notify the last known owner of the
property of the reassessment; and
WHEREAS,within the preceding 12 months Butte County has experienced a significant number of Governor-
proclaimed disasters, namely the Wall Fire,the Ponderosa Fire,the Cherokee Fire, and the LaPorte Fire; and
WHEREAS,the widespread nature of the damage and rural location of the damage has made it difficult to reach
all property owners whose properties may have suffered damage due to these disasters, and who would be eligible to
file for disaster relief; and
WHEREAS,the Butte County Assessor is committed to assisting in the recovery effort and expediting calamity
relief for those taxpayers who have suffered damage in the Governor-proclaimed disasters noted above.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby grant approval for the
Butte County Assessor to reassess property which the Assessor has determined to have suffered damage in the Wall
Fire, Ponderosa Fire, Cherokee Fire, and LaPorte Fire for the purpose of providing calamity relief.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 14' day of November, 2017, by the
following vote:
AYES:Supervisors Wahl, Kirk, Lambert,Teeter, and Chair Connelly
