Leaders, Advocates, Champions!" as this year's theme for Social Work Month to turn the spotlight on the profession and highlight the important contributions they make to society; and WHEREAS, social workers are present throughout our society, including the government, schools, universities, social service agencies, communities,the military, and in health care and mental health organizations; and WHEREAS, social workers engage and bring together individuals, communities, agencies,and government to help society solve some of the most pressing issues of the day; and WHEREAS, social workers provide assistance to protect children and improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families; and'. WHEREAS, social workers help children find loving homes and create new families through adoption; and WHEREAS, soc'i'al workers assist older adults and their families to improve their quality of life and ability to live independently as long a's possible, with access to quality services, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, hereby declare the month of March 2018 as Professional Social Work Month in Butte County to honor all social workers for their commitment to the profession of social work; their dedication to the highest moral and ethical standards; and their practice of social work with the competency of their profession,as their primary obligation,for the welfare of the individuals and families served.
