RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AUGUST 201.8 AS CHILD SUPP4ORT AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, the Mission of the Butte County Department of Child Support Services is "CSS and Parents working
together for Children”; and
WHEREAS,children who are supported by their parents are more likely to perform better in school, have improved
emotional development, a greater level of curiosity, strengthened parent/child relationships and a stable home life; and
WHEREAS, Child Support Services is pioneering processes that, together with other agency partners, will assist
parents in overcoming barriers to employment, and
WHEREAS, there are over 10,799 cases in Butte County alone in which the services of the Butte County
Department of Child Support Services are required, orders have been established in 107,018 cases, paternity has been
established for 8,6O4 children, and parents have paid over$13,095,903 dollars toward the support of their chilldren during
the current federal fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, Butte County is strongly committed to seeking ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its
child support program; and
WHEREAS, during the month of August, 2018, parents who have fallen behind in making their child support
payments are encouraged to come into the Child Support office to make a payment, seek modification of their child
support order, get their licenses released, obtain a repayment plan, and find out whether they qualify for a compromise
on an overdue balance.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes the month of
August, 2018 as"Child Support Awareness Month"and commends parents who regularly pay their child support, and the
Department of Child Support Services for their steadfast commitment to improving the quality of life for Butte County's
children.

vote:
